WCS is looking for volunteers in the following areas:
MEALS ON WHEELS DELIVERY
Spend your lunch hour getting a little exercise, making new friends and feeling good about performing a worthwhile task! Westport/Plaza/Midtown weekday delivery routes are available daily, once a week, once a month. Each route takes about an hour and must be delivered between 11:00 and 1:00. Donations are always welcome!

MEDICARE ASSISTANCE PROJECT
A short training program conducted by the Missouri CLAIM program will make you knowledgeable in Medicare insurance programs, enabling you to assist seniors and disabled persons in understanding their benefits and to choose the programs that are best for them! Continuing education is provided quarterly by the Missouri CLAIM program and monthly at WCS volunteer get-togethers.

SENIOR COMPANION PROGRAM
Volunteer program support positions are available, to persons with social service skills, as station supervisors to help coordinate volunteer service to homebound frail and elderly persons. We are also looking for in-service speakers with information in the field of aging, including health and supportive services for seniors.
Persons interested in becoming a Senior Companion volunteer may apply for either a stipend position ($2.65 per hour with limited compensation for transportation and lunch) or a non-stipend position (limited compensation for transportation and lunch only): For both stipend and non-stipend positions, volunteers must: 1) clear a Missouri Department of Health Family Care Safety Registry background check, and 2) be willing to attend a 40 hour, two week training course before beginning in-home service. Stipend volunteers must have an income of no more than $1,083 per month.

BACK TO SCHOOL PROJECT
There are several ways to help: 1) Donations of supplies and money, 2) Bargain shopping before the event, 3) Sorters and packagers during the two weeks prior to distribution, 4) assist with a variety of tasks at the distribution celebration on August 8th and 9th at the KC Athenaeum.

CHRISTMAS DAY DINNER PARTY FOR SENIORS
Donations for this event held on Christmas Day morning at St. Peter’s School, 64th & Charlotte, KCMO, are accepted all year long. Volunteers sign up for this event the first Monday after Thanksgiving. Because of the terrific response we have to this event, volunteers are accepted on a first CALL--first service basis to help with: turkey carving, set-up and decorating the gym, collecting and packaging gifts, greeting and assisting guests to their tables, providing table service, providing transportation for seniors outside of KCATA’s special pick-up routes, delivering meals and gifts to homebound seniors, and helping with clean-up One of our most fun events!
